Well Crikey o’Flipping Reilly !
The more eagle eyed of you regular visitors & viewers may have noticed a few changes occurring across BOOMBOXtv recently, and you were correct!
The BOOMBOXtv site is currently still slap-bang in the middle of a mahoosive Spring Clean - you will possibly have noticed the beautiful looking new Home page , as well as as the equally stunning looking menu pages for the OnDemand and Original Content libraries.
Not to mention the newly updated WHAT’S ON Guide - which is probably one of the most comprehensive East Anglian gig, event & clubbing guides, as well as the brand NEW LOOK Artist Profiles (where you can find all of your favourite grassroots live acts) AND the brand new Norfolk Venue Guide - which gives you essential info about the brilliant live music venues & pubs in the region.
All of this has been very exciting to build over the past month or so but there are reasons for the need behind so many massive changes to the website…
Having been in a semi-retirement phase for the past two years, focusing on caring for my family and disabled children, meant that I had neglected this site. Finally however, in a Eureka moment, I remembered that it existed and checked in on it - only to find it in a rather poorly state.
Whilst I was (naturally) thankful that both the TV station AND the actual website that hosted it were still fully functional & active, I was dismayed at how many broken links and invalid pages had stacked up over that time. I also realised that I had been a tad mercurial with my site building previously - whilst trying to get every facet, redirect, button & page working correctly and linked properly - the titles, text and headers were all so many different sizes and colours across the many hundreds of pages it was fair dizzying.
So, to sum up some of the work involved in jazzing up the website, in the last month I have : removed all of the content that is now unavailable, I have built several new facets to the functionality of the site which has meant locating & updating info on lots of local artists & venues, all of the various gateway pages have been redesigned and updated with the intent to be easier on the eye, easier to navigate and with accurate info, I have also had to build several hundreds of individual pages in which to host the several hundreds of titles. I have also had to go through every single page to ‘normalise’ all of the aforementioned ugly title headers and all of the text colours.
The work ahead for me regarding BOOMBOXtv is to Search Engjne Optimise all of the many, many web pages, as well as separately SEO’ing all of the various images on the site , and building hundreds of more pages to host all of the brilliant new content that is coming , very soon, to BBTV.
Thanks for reading this, if you did - really it was just a little insight into the daily workings of BOOMBOXtv , and the effort and work that is needed to single-handedly maintain an entertainment, TV and Online streaming service website… there is literally ALWAYS something to do, fix or add to it.
